How to read this

Prompts you will ignore are worse than no prompts

A weekly schedule means 52 emails a year. Most people start skimming them by month three, which is exactly how a real missed check-in gets overlooked. Pick a cadence you will still notice in a year.

The waiting period is your safety margin, not a delay

It exists so a broken phone, a hospital stay, or two weeks off the grid does not release anything. Every day you remove from it is a day of protection you are trading for speed.

Most people land near 30 and 14

Monthly check-ins with a two week waiting period means twelve prompts a year and a worst case of about six weeks. That suits most situations that are not time critical.

Tighten both only if the risk is real and current

Short intervals make sense during a specific assignment or period of risk, not permanently. You can change your schedule whenever your situation changes.

Set the schedule that fits your life

HeirVault check-ins default to every 30 days. Free uses a 14 day waiting period. Pro and Shield let you choose a shorter window, and Shield adds device check-ins through an API.
